Why Art Therapy?

Carl Jung said that ‘real liberation comes not from glossing over or repressing painful states of feeling, but only from experiencing them to the full’.

I spent many years stifling and ignoring my own pain, and it was only when I allowed myself to be honest about my feelings through art and psychotherapy that I was able to heal and experience a new way of living. I have created this blog in order to help others so that these revelations can come sooner in life for them.

I believe that the key to mental health lies in assessing and healing our own embarrassment and fear of our pain, and allowing our wounds to be open so that they can heal. Unfortunately, our human nature makes this difficult.

This is why art therapy is such a blessing; it transcends beyond the ego’s resistance to acknowledging our pain and into a subconscious state of healing and understanding.

I hope that this blog can aid you through your own journey to peace, love and self-acceptance.
